No. 1 White Sands National Monument Full Moon Hike
Have you ever wanted to hike the dunes under the magical glow of the full moon? Grab this unique opportunity to enjoy the peace and serenity of the white, vast, endless dunes, and experience the area under a sky full of stars. Join one of the White Sands National Monument trained rangers for a full moon hike and see firsthand how the local wildlife survives in the dunes.
Full moon hikes are offered once a month on the night before the full moon.
Entrance fee to monument also applies in addition to program fees.

Celebrate southern Mexico traditions and food in a BIG way. La Gran Fiesta packs 3-full days of culture, food, arts, music, entertainment, and family fun at the Plaza de Las Cruces. September 21-23.
Move to the beat of spectacular music with headliner A.B. Quintanilla III and The Kumbia King Allstarz and other local musicians. Experience a moving special ceremony as CARE Honors National POW/MIA Recognition Day with pre and post-ceremony musical performances. (Veterans and one guest are FREE.)
Watch for the parade, and non-stop entertainment including mariachis, folklorico dancers, a fashion show, games, a carnival and more.
And if competition is in your blood – join in Roberto’s Enchilada Cook-Off Contest, Lumbre Chile Eating Contest and more.

Rock to a full lineup of musical entertainment including Las Cruces’ own Bri Bagwell, four-time female vocalist of the year and her band, The Banned.

No. 4 Celebrate Our National Public Lands!
National Public Lands Day is a fee-free day for all federal public lands and many state parks. Enjoy some hiking, biking or camping, or simply learn more about your public lands and the plants and wildlife that live there. We hope you will gather up your family and friends and take this day to appreciate and enjoy the great outdoors and the many special landscapes of Southern New Mexico. We are blessed to have an abundance of national land in our backyard, including the majestic Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument which protects prehistoric, historic, geologic, and biologic resources.
- Join the Friends of the Organ Mountains as they work on the Garden near the visitors center and conduct some general upkeep and maintenance of the areas surrounding the Welcome Center at Dripping Springs 8am-12pm.
- Follow that with a Matanza and Mariachi Singing at La Cueva picnic site. 4-8pm

No. 5 Old West Stagecoach Ride, Show, & Dinner
For a true old west experience, get out your western duds and visit one of Doña Ana County’s most scenic and historic ranches. Begin your journey into the old west at the Corralitos Ranch where you will ride on an authentic horse-drawn stagecoach. Imagine those who traveled before as you pass “hold uphill,” fill your belly on a delicious barbecue dinner, and sit back and enjoy some true country entertainment from the Cowboy Storyteller. This sprawling cattle ranch was the site of the historic Butterfield Stagecoach Trail, Apache raids, and filming for Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
