The annual Las Cruces New Year’s Eve Chile Drop returns in-person to the Plaza de Las Cruces on December 31, bringing food, entertainment and fun to participants. The Chile Drop is a must-see celebration of Las Cruces food and culture that offers an exciting way to bring in a new year of new experiences.

New this year, attendees will have the chance to vote on the State Question—red or green—to determine the color of the lighted chile that will drop to celebrate the New Year. With events kicking off at 9pm, voting runs until 11pm. Main Street will be blocked off for the event, allowing for people to safely enjoy the food trucks, local bands and DJ.

While in town for the Chile Drop, enjoy New Mexican dishes at a variety of restaurants and taste the area’s famed red and green chile along the Walk of Flame.
