Correct Answer: “C”
Born just six months apart, Prince Nelson and Morris Day had an on-screen and off-screen relationship that was musical, professional, personal and enduring. The lead singer of “The Time” played Morris Day – his own name – in flamboyant fashion, almost stealing the movie from his friend and colleague. There was a reported on-set fight between the two.
Correct Answer: “D”
Prince rode a customized 1981 Honda CM400 Hondamatic in Purple Rain. The bike, with its purple Craig Vetter fairing, high handlebars and passenger seat with sissy bar, became its own character of sorts in the film and was prominently featured on movie posters and album covers.
Correct Answer: “A & B”
According to the New York Post, the part of Prince’s love interest in the film (played by Apollonia) was initially given to Vanity. She was a member of Vanity 6 — a girl-band put together and controlled by Prince — but pulled out of the film at the last minute. Many speculate that she and Prince were dating and had a blowout, but director Albert Magnoli claims it was because she was offered a role in Martin Scorsese’s “The Last Temptation of Christ” (her role in that film ended up on the cutting room floor).
Correct Answer: “All the Above”
Purple Rain gave Prince two American number one singles (“When Doves Cry” and “Let’s Go Crazy”), while the three other singles, “Purple Rain”, “I Would Die 4 U”, and “Take Me with U” became worldwide top-10 hits and established him as one of the most popular performers of the decade.
