Las Cruces Dog Park

This newly opened city park, located on East Hadley Ave. behind the Meerscheidt Recreation Center offers off-leash play areas, shaded areas, waste stations, benches, and water fountains. Separate areas available for large and small dogs. Dogs must be healthy, spayed or neutered, sociable, current on all vaccinations and licensed with tags on collar, and must be under their owner’s control at all times. Dogs must be leashed when not in designated off-lead areas. The park is open daily from dawn until dusk.
Off-leash Dog Park

A small part with a “special needs” section separate from the main park. Seating and shade for owners, water and waste bags for dogs. Located behind the Meerscheidt Recreation Center.
Young Park

A large, grassy park with extensive walking paths and doggy stations with cleanup bags. Pets welcome.
Desert Trails Park
This paved walking trail, which varies from .2 mile loops to 1.5 mile loops, is located on Mission between Roadrunner and Golf Club. It includes water fountains, benches, and trash cans. Pet-friendly on leash, parking available on street.
Hiking at Baylor Pass trail, Aguirre Springs, Sierra Vista Trial, and Soledad Canyon

The Organ Mountains and surrounding areas offer spectacular scenic views and recreation opportunities. The Aguirre Springs campground overlooks the Tularosa Basin and White Sands National Monument. The 6-mile-long Baylor Pass Trail, the only maintained footpath across the Organ Mountain range, can be accessed from Aguirre Springs. The Sierra Vista Trail is a 25-mile non-motorized recreation trail along the western flank of the Organ Mountains and the eastern side of the Franklin Mountains. The Soledad Canyon Day Use Area is at the juncture of two canyons — Bar Canyon and Soledad Canyon, and includes the 3 mile loop Bar Canyon Trail. Dogs are allowed at all four locations.
La Llorona Trail
Located between Picacho Ave. and Motel Blvd.
This paved multi-used trail spans three miles alongside the Rio Grande. Restrooms, benches, picnic tables, a play structure, and signage explaining the history, culture, and wildlife of the rio grand are available along the trail. The trail is pet-friendly for leashed dogs.
Triviz Trail
This 4.6 mile walking path runs from Kohl’s to the New Mexico State University Area. Pavement surface with water fountains, benches, and trash cans available. Dog friendly, parking available.
