Water on the Border, featuring work by The Border Artists art organization of Las Cruces, opens in the Branigan Cultural Center Friday, June 30, and continues through Saturday, Sept. 16. An artists’ reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 7.

The exhibition will feature works in multiple mediums that address the topic of water in the Rio Grande US/Mexico border region. Themes include water and community, water scarcity, and water as it relates to the individual. Works by 19 artists will be on display.

It’s that time of year again! Time to take advantage of our large outdoor campus and wonderful indoor facilities by attending one or more of our annual summer camps at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum!

Whether you enjoy animals, drawing, or outdoor fun, we have a camp for you. Discover nature, heritage cooking, painting, roping, wrangling, weaving, and many more exciting activities. Guest Author Anne Hillerman, Author of “Song of the Lion,” at Sage Cafe

The Sage Library Book Club, in conjunction with the Friends of the Library, will feature Santa Fe author Anne Hillerman from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 27, at the Sage Branch of Thomas Branigan Memorial Library located in the Sage Café, 6121 Reynolds Drive in Las Cruces.

Hillerman will discuss her new book, “Song of the Lion,” third in the series of the Leaphorn, Chee and Manuelito Mysteries. Her debut novel, “Spider Woman’s Daughter,” received the Spur Award from Western Writers of America for the Best First Novel of 2013. Her second mystery in the series “Rock with Wings” became a New York Times best-seller.

MOTHAPALOOZA — White Sands National Monument hosts the family-friendly celebration of moths 7 p.m. Friday, July 28, in honor of National Moth Week. Discover the amazing life that thrives in the dunes and the science that is helping us gain a better understanding of this otherworldly landscape.

The Parks and Recreation Department’s “Kids EXPO 2017” will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at the Plaza de Las Cruces.

The annual family event is free and open to all ages.  “Kids Expo 2017” celebrates the summer with games, contests, giveaways, arts and crafts, food vendors, and music.

Information will be provided on extracurricular activities and services that are available for youth in the Las Cruces area. Local businesses, groups, and agencies will be on hand providing information about the services they offer.
